Upcoming Lecture

Tom Sitzman, MD
Thomas Sitzman, MD, has joined the Division of Plastic Surgery at Phoenix Children's. Dr. Sitzman graduated summa cum laude from the University of Virginia in 2001. He obtained his Medical Degree from Duke University, where he conducted research on the genetics of craniofacial anomalies. Dr. Sitzman completed an integrated residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Wisconsin. Following residency, Dr. Sitzman completed a fellowship in pediatric plastic surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario. During his fellowship, he obtained advanced training in management of cleft lip and palate, facial reanimation, traumatic and congenital deformities of the upper and lower extremity, sarcoma reconstruction, and brachial plexus reconstruction. He then completed a second fellowship in pediatric hand and upper extremity surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Prior to joining Phoenix Children's, Dr. Sitzman was a plastic surgeon at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Dr. Sitzman's interests include caring for children with cleft lip and/or cleft palate (CL/CP) and children with congenital or acquired hand deformities. He believes children with CL/CP are best treated by trained, high-volume subspecialists who continually monitor their outcomes and adjust their treatment strategies to improve patient outcomes and the patient experience. Dr. Sitzman has a grant from National Institutes of Health to study outcomes of CL/CP surgery across the United States, and looks forward to continuing that work at Phoenix Children's.
