Heather Menzer, MD
Heather M. Menzer, M.D. is an orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She then completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of New Mexico Health Science Center in Albuquerque, NM. To complete her specialty training, Dr. Menzer did a fellowship in orthopaedic surgery – sports medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Menzer also has a degree in mechanical engineering with a certificate in biomedical engineering. Since graduating from medical school, Dr. Menzer has been actively involved in the care of college athletic teams. During her fellowship, Dr. Menzer provided team coverage as a team and volunteer physician for the University of Virginia athletics, including football, basketball and soccer. She also covered the New Mexico State Fair rodeo. Dr. Menzer is currently the head team physician for North Pointe Prep. Dr. Menzer’s goals when caring for her patients include full and timely recovery from surgical procedures, injury prevention, maximum injury rehabilitation and the safe return to play of every athlete and patient.

What is AZSMS(Arizona Sports Medicine Society)?

The Arizona Sports Medicine Society (AZSMS) is a member-based trade organization serving professionals dedicated to education and continual learning within the field of sports medicine. Founded in 2007, the AZSMS is comprised of primary care physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, coaches and other community members whose goal is to participate in a forum that provides evidence-based medical information and networking opportunities. AZSMS offers educational forums, conferences and events in Arizona. Through monthly meetings, AZSMS provides CEU and CME credits presented by experts in their field. In addition to educational opportunities, members can take advantage of networking events, group discounts, physician interaction and other resources.
